Balliemeanoch Breaks

During the 2014 floods, I worked hard to maintain the profile of tourism businesses in the South West who were most certainly #openforbusiness using the @southwestUK twitter account to best affect – which led to regional and local press coverage. Find out more about this on my blog.
I was also asked by VisitDevon and the Cotswolds to bring together the Watertight business conferences, a series of business support events, which helped the industry of these areas to focus on what they needed to do in times of crisis. I was also an expert speaker at the Watertight business event in Bath, with VisitBath, talking about the importance of social media and maintaining a positive profile at difficult times.
I supported VisitEngland on the development of their Watertight Business toolkits.
Carolyn Custerson - Chief Executive Officer, English Riviera Tourism Company Ltd (ERTC):
“Visit Devon commissioned Maureen McAllister to lead on a very short notice project specified by Government to assist SME’s negatively impacted as a result of the closure of the Dawlish Railway Line and extreme flooding and storms. Maureen surpassed our expectations quickly grasping what was needed and managed this project superbly to ensure that Devon delivered what the government and Visit England had asked. As a destination we hit all the targets asked for us in terms of levels of engagement with the industry and attendance to the ‘Water Tight’ workshops that took place across the county with more delegates from Devon in attendance than any other area in England. This success was down to Maureen’s energy, focus and positivity. I always enjoy working with her.”
Louise Stewart - Director of Strategy & Deputy CEO, VisitEngland:
“Maureen supported VisitEngland to develop the 'Watertight Business' Toolkit , a resource for small businesses in the tourism sector affected by flooding during Winter 2013/14 in England. Working to tight deadlines Maureen was able to produce content that was structured, comprehensive and targeted for the audience. She worked well with the team at VisitEngland to use their expertise as well as her own. Her approach is very much to understand what you want, deliver it and advise where she can add even more. At short notice Maureen was able to pull together workshops for small businesses to bring the content to life, source expert speakers and advisors to meet with the businesses and deliver well received support sessions that were also broadcast live to businesses unable to attend. Fabulous.”
