Developing plans for tourism delivery structures in Northumberland.
Working with Ruth Hyde from LomaxHyde to develop a plan which responded to
the challenge: ‘how can destination management best be delivered in the
County in the future, given the huge change, both in terms of tourism landscape
and structures, and the significant reduction in funding for tourism in area?’.
This involved reviewing the current position and potential delivery models,
assessing the views of the industry and key stakeholders and working closely
with the steering group to develop workable solutions. This work led to the
development of an option for the future of tourism in Northumberland, with
a practical, costed plan.
Lynn Turner - Head of Culture, Leisure and Tourism at Northumberland County
Council:
"McAllister and Co and LomaxHyde worked with Northumberland County Council
on the development and implementation of options for destination management
in Northumberland. Maureen and Ruth were focused and skilled in their delivery
of this project, working closely with stakeholders and partners to develop
proposals and an agreed way forward. Their understanding of tourism and destination
management is excellent, their delivery is professional and they are able to
bring together a range of stakeholders, with varied views and opinions, to
focus on the issue at hand. They have also provided ‘after care’ support
which we have welcomed as the proposals are implemented. I would definitely
recommend their service to others."
David Hall - Non Exec Director at Kielder Water and Forest Park Development
Trust:
"I have had the exceptional pleasure of working with Maureen and Ruth
from McAllister and Co and Lomax Hyde. their grasp of the tourism sector, their
energy and passion are unrivalled in the industry. They are excellent at identifying
the client's needs and delivering them on time, on budget and at a very high
level of quality. I would recommend them without reservation"
"Stronger Together: Leading Northumberland to a Greater Future" is
Northumberland county council’s Corporate Plan and it sets out how
they will deliver priorities from the Sustainable Community
Strategy over the next three to five years. They aim to understand the
needs, wants and aspirations of our communities and identify what works
best to address local issues.
